If there's one thing that pumps up just about anyone with a
pulse in the free world, it's the thumping sound of Survivor's Rocky-themed
"Eye of the Tiger".
Besides being here on a Football Friday to get my weekend off
to a great start, hearing that song pump loudly through the Giants Weight Room
as we wait to enter their locker room is now part of the allure of the day.
The team must think so too as it appears they have it on loop as when we
walked into the locker room it was on and when we left it was on. Man, I
want to put on the pads and hit someone now!
The Giants released their final Injury Report before Sunday's
big game against the rival, hated Dallas Cowboys.
PROBABLE:
C David Baas
WR Hakeem Nicks
QUESTIONABLE:
RB Ahmad Bradshaw
DOUBTFUL:
DT Rocky Bernard
S Kenny Phillips
OUT:
LB Jacquain Williams
One good thing about this report is that it's getting shorter,
which obviously means the team is getting healthier. Their bye week is
Week 11, which is positioned for the team to get much needed rest before the
final drive for the playoffs.
According to Head Coach Tom Coughlin, there has not been a
decision made on TE Travis Beckum. During the playoffs and in the Super
Bowl before his injury, Beckum was showing signs of his abilities that made him
a draft pick not so long ago. He also, when asked, praised the job that S
Stevie Brown has been doing in place of the injured Kenny Phillips. I
personally love Brown back there and it seems as though we're getting the type
of play we used to get from Phillips pre-injury a few years back.
DE Osi Umenyiora feels the G-Men are a better team then the one
that faced the Cowboys opening night. He feels the team is starting to
come together.
I finally got a chance to ask rookie RB David Wilson on why he
changed his uniform number from #34 to #22. He advised that 2+2=4. Four was both his college football
number AND is his mom's favorite number.
As far as the game on Sunday is concerned, I fully expect the
REVENGE factor to play a big part. This team is too good and playing well
right now to be swept by the Cowboys this season. I feel the Cowboys,
though they did win last week in Carolina, are on a downward spiral and
injuries are starting to mount. That being said, if RB Felix Jones starts
in place of DeMarco Murray, he's been known as sort of a Giants killer.
Also, the raw emotion of the Cowboys playing for their owner,
Jerry Jones, who lost his Mom this week, could add to some of the adrenaline
flowing on their sidelines.
Still, in the end, the Giants will prevail, say 31-20.
